In medieval Japan, a samurai is killed near the city gate. A notorious villain stands accused. At his trial, four witnesses to the crime give their versions of events. Alas, their stories differ diametrically... So a shaman decides to summon the victim's ghost. Akira Kurosawa won the Golden Lion at the Mostra di Venezia in 1951.
