Grey Matter, which picked up two awards at the 2011 Tribeca Festival, lives up to the promise glimpsed in the short films by Kivu Ruhorahoza, a former assistant of Eric Kabera. This dizzying mise en abyme follows and transcends the difficulties of a budding director as he tries to raise funds for his film about a young woman who survives the atrocities of the war only to find herself interned in an asylum.
