Nepal, Hollywood-style. Filmed in Nepal and the Italian Alps, and directed by an excellent filmmaker who came to the project's rescue after the first director withdrew, Everest is an adaptation of Into Thin Air, a first-person account written by Jon Krakauer. Krakauer was at the foot of Everest when tragedy struck in 1996, resulting in the deaths of eight experienced climbers.
