Mehdi and Hamid, a debt-collecting duo from Casablanca, criss-cross the desert landscapes of southern Morocco in search of over-indebted shepherds. Along the way they cross paths with a criminal on the run. Déserts, which was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes, is part theatre of the absurd, part metaphysical western.
