Winner of awards at Cannes in 2004, then in Chicago, Mar del Plata and Thessaloniki, Bitter Dream is the director’s debut feature. This black comedy cum mockumentary is set in an Iranian cemetery ruled over by the irascible Mr Esfandiar (playing himself!), whose favourite quip is, “To be or not to be, it makes no difference.”
